I started working on a marquetry cabinet back in March, and I recently finished it. The name of the piece is "Backyard Birds."

I documented the process of making the cabinet on the blog of my new-ish website, http://www.sashakopf.com (link in my bio).

Full-length photograph of a tall wooden cabinet. The cabinet is made of a reddish-brown wood. The upper half of the cabinet is enclosed and has a decorative door. In the middle of the cabinet is a drawer with black knobs. The bottom half of the cabinet is four wooden legs connected by a decorative wooden grill-like structure near the floor. The cabinet is on a white background.
Close-up photograph of the decorative marquetry door of the cabinet. The door is a trompe-l'œil image of a scene viewed through a window. Outside the window, a squirrel is reaching for a bird feeder while three birds fly away. On the windowsill are a vase of sunflowers and a book titled "Backyard Birds." The trompe-l'œil image is made of wood, not painted.
Another full-length photograph of the cabinet, this time with the door slightly ajar to reveal shelves inside.
Another close-up photograph of the marquetry door on the cabinet, showing the detail of the squirrel, the bird feeder, the sunflowers, and the book. The drawer of the cabinet is open, and inside, there is a fake pile of birdseed, looking as if it spilled on the floor of the drawer.
