Don’t outlaw cousin marriages, urges independent MP
Iqbal Mohamed said that marrying a first cousin was very common in south Asian cultures in Britain and should not be banned.
As are the biological consequences. One might also say that FGM is common in some societies - that does not make it any more acceptable.
