Not really. It has been there for many years, Musk got in first anyway.Let us face it, social media (whisper it Mastodon included) are only or should be only, a means of allowing people to talk, exchange (in my experience) dug and mountain photos with the odd joke. The mistake was in treatubg them as 'news'.

I think Musk went in with second mover advantage. He bought Xitter to use it and not to make money directly from it. In that sense he was a first mover - direct polics rather than just cash.

I suspect you are right there. Musk a 'pup' and then decided to use it to his advantage (which he has done). Zuckeberg has realised he is behind the times.
