"Fascism is, it turns out, very popular. It won on Tuesday, seemingly without even having to try. The side that won barely campaigned."

~ A.R. Moxon

But the problem, let's remind ourselves, is the Democratic party. The problem is not the voters who, told that one party will usher in fascism, went right ahead and voted for that party — choosing to usher in fascism.

"Everything they did was a shitshow and all of it was washed in threats of brutality and malicious lies and promises of retribution and revenge and destruction, none of it offered any solutions that didn't involve hurting lots of people, all its proponents went out of their way to disparage any fine aspiration or principal that anybody, including themselves, has ever claimed to hold. Their standard bearer is a criminal and a rapist. And he won."

"Somebody will tell me many of those who voted for it didn't know what they were voting for, and I imagine that's true. I have to say, though, that the ignorance and complacency demonstrated by Republicans and their allies is an ignorance and a complacency so vast and unfeeling that it must be taken as interchangeable with malice. …

I'm disinterested in the usual circular firing squad."

Brings Grey’s Law to mind: “Any sufficiently advanced incompetence is indistinguishable from malice.” In this case, incompetence in civic engagement would cover it.
I'm sorry, but I am not letting people off the hook that easily. There is a retired woman who lives next to us that was profusely thanking god for Trump's victory all over social media. My partner is willing to let our neighbor off the hook because she thinks she is "saving the babies." Now, I don't know our neighbor well enough to accuse her of racism and the rest, but I can't help but wonder if the apartment house across the street that seems low rent and always seems to be rented to Hispanic families. So, I can't say for sure in her case.

But in the case of Missouri, the case is clear. White women voted to protect abortion and reproductive right and for TFG. I am pretty sure that the racist fascism TFG has been spouting this whole campaign is really what they voted for.

In the past the abortion issue allowed white church ladies a fig leaf to say they were not racist and were just protecting the babies. I no longer believe that. They are just as racist as their husbands. And voted for TFG in exactly the same proportion.
