Zum Inhalt der Seite gehen

Sometimes I need to watch a video on youtube.

Even if I quickly go fullscreen, there's enough time to be enticed by the algorithmically-addictive video on the side menu.

What browser magic can I most simply implement to hide the side menu?

#attention #focus #firefox #youtube
if you already use userscripts then it's probably easy to do with css/js if not already packaged by someone else, but otherwise there might be an extension
use a #youtube frontend and never go back, done. No ads, no tracking:)

#piped #invidious

https://piped.video/ is a good one, you can even import your subscriptions. Voila!
Wow, a lot of suggestions!

This tiny extension seems to be what I was looking for: https://unhook.app/
i forgot that you might find it useful to save and watch multiple platforms distraction-free inside joybox https://joybox.rosano.ca
Oh its not floss :(
specialised addons exist, uBlock (https://weirder.earth/@j12i/112382147744895408), use an invidious instance and you have a setting for that, ...
found out that other nice and specific add-on is not only not Foss, but has a super weird Eula 😢

So I'm gonna try ublock tool, and I think your write up is lovely!
