"Charlie Chaplin on fascism and capitalism"

Of course, he never once mentions capitalism. Not a single time.

But let's just sweep that little inconvenient fact under the rug.
He did, just not explicit enough for you to hear it.

He mentioned love in contrast of greed. Pay attention and remember the time. This was after Hoover and before the Red Scare. It was FDR and social reform time.
No, he didn't. You can claim he did, but he simply never once mentions it.

He mentions "greed", sure. Are you claiming there's no such thing as a greedy socialist? Or communist? Are you claiming YOU aren't greedy?
Yes I can.

Socialism and communism both are based on sharing and pooling resources to benefit the majority.

Greed is a purely capitalist expression.

The greedy politbureau seized to be socialist. Whenever wealth is accumulated to benefit one individual while another goes hungry and cold you arrive at capitalism.
I'm sure you "can". ARE you? Are you saying, (presumably) with a straight face, that you are not greedy? That no socialism, no communist, is greedy?
When I'm greedy and I rarely are, and thus I do not act in the spirit of socialism or communism.

You mistake human nature with philosophical ideals and definitions of social contracts.

Capitalism indulges human nature of greed and exploitation.

Socialism indulges human nature of kindness and cooperation.

"When I'm greed and I rarely are'

Thank you.
I'm human, so what?

You still don't get the principles of power and greed vs the power of love, kindness and collective resource/cooperation,

one defines capitalism and property
other defines socialism / communism and equal sharing in the spoils.

Very basic. Democracy where the majority in theory governs over the spoils is closer to socialism than to capitalism.

And again! Reminder: FDR times.
If you really want to imagine that humans won't be greedy, and structure your philosophy around that, that's your call.

Maybe I'll go to medical school, and deny that cancer exists, because I don't like cancer.
Sadly I don't have rose glasses. But we can do much better than US capitalism or German social democratic capitalism in the current iteration for that matter.

The balance between socialism and capitalism could produce a better outcome as currently available in most countries.

Which is why I rather view them as functions instead of systems,
"Sadly I don't have rose glasses."

"Sadly, I don't delude myself about reality."
And again! Function vs System.

You have socialist and communist elements in "capitalist" societies to various degrees, because pure predatory capitalist societies can't survive as Pinochet found out and reintroduced socialist programs.

See James McGill Buchanans philosophy of property supremacy and Project25 of the heritage foundation in the attempt to kill socialist programs in US government.

Buchanan-capitalism is doomed to fail.
Not enough socialism.
"Function versus system! Functions versus system! Function versus system!"
And you are not willing to apply critical thinking and semantics.
I mute this here.
Hey, make whatever accusations you want to make you feel good.
FDR's capitalism was much closer to socialism than the US likes to admit, while USSR communism enden is some perverse capitalism for the political elite, which they in turn would never admit.

Functions not systems!
@silkester@mastodon.social@mastodon.social Almost expecting him to talk about a dream he had, but that would come later 🤔😁
