Good Night, Tech Right!
PDF #Zine

„We’re excited to announce a new zine version of Good Night, Tech Right: Pull the Plug on AI Fascism, a deep-dive into the influence of far-Right and neo-fascist politics on the emerging bloc of tech billionaires within the Trumpian state, and its push to cement Artificial Intelligence (AI) as a new regime of capital accumulation.

With anger only rising against techno-fascists like #ElonMusk and calls for protests against #Tesla growing, we hope this zine offers people a resource and chance to start discussions around our shifting landscape.“

Don't let Google & co. take over our lives and spaces!
Fuck off #Google!

"Google steals and exploits our #data for profit and turned this behaviour into a norm. It also colonizes our physical spaces. Google canceled its plan for a ‘Google Campus’ in Kreuzberg, Berlin under pressure by the neighborhood; yet it continues its expansion worldwide.
As a decentralized network of people, we want to keep our lives and spaces free from this law- and tax-evading company and its peers, and oppose the dystopian future they offer.

The capitalist mindset.
#Amazon is just another store.
#Turkey is just another holiday destination.
A #Cybertruck is just another mode of transport.
#Nestle is just another coffee brand.
Factory farmed #chicken is just another source of protein.
#LLMs (#AI) are just another tool.

#Capitalism needs you to ignore the social and environmental costs, and think only of personal benefits.

Reason To Hate Capitalism #235 - Under Capitalism ‘justice’ is based on wealth, because only the wealthy can afford the best lawyers (& can pay off police, judges and politicians too) #capitalism #law #justice #crime #anticapitalism
@RickiTarr If the amount of "justice" you receive is based on how good the lawyers you can afford are, then "justice" is only for the rich.

Reason To Hate Capitalism #233 - We have solutions to our worst problems but they don’t happen because they don’t make Capitalists enough money #capitalism #anticapitalism
MCENEIE "the problem with solar is we can't monopolize the sun or make it scarcer thanitis"

MIT Technology Review - The problem is that solar panels generate lots of electricity in the middle of sunny days, frequently more than what's required, driving down prices—sometimes even into negative territory.

We cannot rely on the US to protect or nurture the commons. Think of the US as a giant shopping mall with guns. That’s it. That’s the whole philosophy right there.

We want to safeguard the infrastructure of civilisation, we have to do it ourselves here in the EU before it’s too late. And we can start by acknowledging our own failures and redoubling our commitment to fundamental rights and democracy (and not limit our own potential by having every single decision framed by the fucking “Single Market”).

You want to end up like the US? Then let’s keep going as we are. You want something different? We must invest in the commons, embrace our diversity, embrace equity, and move to an inclusive, post-capitalist existence.

It’s up to us. The bacteria in places we haven’t even visited yet that will survive long after we’ve made ourselves extinct – should that be the route we decide to take (because yes, it is a decision) – don’t really give two shits either way.

Each time a person chooses not to buy a new Tesla because of Elon, it lands a triple blow to the company.

That's because Tesla isn't a company that just profits from selling cars.

A big part of its business is also generating emission certificates by selling EVs to legacy automakers (like GM, Ford, Toyota, Volkswagen, etc).

Those carbon credits "offset" the fossil fuel pollution created by the petrol cars those legacy automakers sell:

"GM purchased about 44 million credits in 2023, the EPA report said, while Tesla sold about 34 million, the largest of all transactions."

https://www.reuters.com/sustainability/tesla-racked-up-greenhouse-emissions-credits-2023-other-automakers-lagged-2024-11-25/

"Tesla generated a substantial $1.79 billion from carbon credit sales last year … bringing its total earnings from such credits since 2009 to nearly $9 billion."

https://carboncredits.com/tesla-hits-record-high-sales-from-carbon-credits-at-1-79b/

So let's suppose you decide to buy a Volkswagen EV instead of a Tesla.

Tesla doesn't just miss out on the profit from that EV.

It also misses the profit from selling the carbon credits for that car to VW.

Meanwhile, VW gains the carbon certificates for that EV, meaning it needs to buy fewer offsets from Tesla for its petrol cars.

And that's likely to be extra bad news for Elon, if he's borrowed against his Tesla shares to fund other parts of his empire: https://social.vivaldi.net/@ajsadauskas/114204194057224800

This is dark. It’s not an easy read. I do not recommend it for those who suffer from crippling climate anxiety, or who are prone to being depressed by learning about the abject state of today’s politics and economics.

That said, if you’re ready for a clear-eyed look at how bad things really are now — and how bad the people who run things truly are — then I suggest reading the full linked essay.

Here are a few excerpts...
___________________________

The rich keep getting richer. That much is clear. But what’s often left unsaid is how they’re doing it — not just through the usual exploitation, but by actively steering the world toward catastrophe while shielding themselves from the fallout.

Let’s cut through the noise: the ultra-wealthy are not just accumulating wealth; they are hoarding it, stockpiling fortunes at a rate so obscene it makes the concept of money itself feel ridiculous. While the rest of us get lectured on cutting back — drive less, eat less meat, recycle, make do with less — they are securing their bunkers, buying up remote islands, and building escape plans for the very collapse they are accelerating.

And make no mistake, collapse is not just some distant dystopian fantasy. We are already deep into a polycrisis — climate change, biodiversity loss, resource overshoot, economic instability, and authoritarian creep all feeding into one another like an unstoppable chain reaction. Meanwhile, banks and corporations, who could be funding solutions, are instead dragging their feet or outright obstructing progress, ensuring the system remains tilted in favor of those who already have everything.

If the world’s biggest banks truly cared about avoiding collapse, they’d be moving mountains right now to fund large-scale climate infrastructure. But they’re not.

And that’s not a mistake — it’s a choice.

They have run the numbers. They know full well that unchecked climate change will devastate the poorest and most vulnerable long before it affects the ultra-wealthy. So, from their perspective, dragging their feet isn’t just about short-term profits — it’s about preserving a system that ensures their continued dominance, even as the world burns.

Meanwhile, the rest of us are left watching as climate disasters pile up — floods swallowing cities, heatwaves killing thousands, wildfires turning landscapes to ash — while the financial elite sit back and continue cashing in.

At this point, it’s not just negligence. It’s premeditated collapse.
. . .

If you’ve made it this far, you already know the truth: this isn’t capitalism failing. It’s capitalism succeeding exactly as intended.

The rich are not scrambling to prevent collapse. They welcome it — because they know they’ll be the only ones left standing. While the rest of us are told to “sacrifice” and “tighten our belts,” billionaires are building bunkers, buying private islands, and hoarding resources for the dystopia they see coming.

And why shouldn’t they? They built this system to ensure that, when it all falls apart, they’d be untouchable.

Because their goal is not to fix the system. Their goal is to extract as much as possible, as fast as possible, before everything comes crashing down.

Headline from linked essay says: "The rich are hoarding wealth –because they know what's coming. Collapse is baked into their business plans." Below this is a photo of a bald middle-aged white man in a shirt and tie sitting at a desk and glaring at someone as he gathers large stacks of cash for himself.

Capitalism doing its thing. From the Times Heathrow liveblog:

"Hotel prices rise as passengers left stranded"

#UKPolitics #Capitalism #Heathrow

"Clearly, something is sabotaging society’s rational development. We should have those trains, and some big solar-powered apartment buildings near the stations. Even if I think the solutions are probably closer to agroecology than indoor vertical farming and giant sailboats than green jetliners, that doesn’t stop me from agreeing with the Abundance authors that there’s a block. But where Klein and Thompson blame self-seeking “groups” who—according to the work of economist Mancur Olson—are a constant and unavoidable threat to human collective action, Marxists understand capitalist production as riven by particular ironies and contradictions.

For example: capital is reluctant to enter industries that are easy to enter, for fear competition will drive out the profit. The abundant solution to a lack of housing is to make it easier for developers to build for increased density: the more units that come onto the market, the less landlords will be able to charge. But the same supply mechanism that pushes down prices discourages capital from the sector."

And #capitalism also requires #homeless people as the ultimate non-carcerial punishment of not choosing to be exploited.

Homeless people are the threat made by the elites to everyone that if you do not comply with capitalism, you too are destined to suffer and die on the streets.

Autistic people also often lack empathy or experience it in non-standard ways, but I'm doubtful that many would be comfortable with similar stigmatization applied towards autism.

Supposed "proper" neurotypical people have repeatedly demonstrated an incredible lack of care towards others in recent time. Mass support of genocide, increasing support of fascism, increasing misogyny and transmisia. The more longstanding and near universal support for carnism among "normal" people is a desert of empathy or conscience.

People like Elon Musk are not unique. Should they be removed from power? Yes. Will removing them from power remove the capitalist and white supremacist systems that produced them? No.

For so long as such systems of oppression exist, power will be rewarded to oppressors for their continued participation and support of those oppressive systems. People like Elon Musk or Trump can be replaced like the heads on a hydra. Voting someone who is not disordered, who is not a "psychopath" into power will not challenge this; because, the issue is not clinical, it is not that the wrong people are in power, but rather the very systems of power which people have been indoctrinated into.

I really hate greedy capitalist corporations. Really. Wasting money to make more money when they have millions, cut aids and pay to their workers and then give millions also in bonuses to CEO's. Incredible. So much wasted money and potential that could solve many more important problems, or help solve them, and it's just used to, idk, show me the "NEWEST GOOGLE WATCH 2 MEGA PRO XPTO 360 NO SCOPE MINECRAFT SHEEP UAOW"...

This system is one where the profits are privatized, while risks and loss are publicized -- we all know that.
Throughout the world, the poverty is rising, hunger is increasing. "The needs are simply rising faster than the money coming in" says OCHA spokesperson. So, while corporate profits are sky-high, they enjoy low-tax or no-tax profits while the whole world suffers.

"Multiple scientific studies have shown that the risk of developing Long COVID is compounded by each reinfection. Wastewater data, now the only reliable metric to track the spread of the pandemic, shows that the average American has been infected by COVID-19 nearly four times. At the current trajectory, this figure will reach eight infections per person by March 2030. A similar reality undoubtedly exists throughout the world."

Whereas workers paid an increasing tax burden through payroll taxes, corporations and wealthy families saw theirs drop by half or more. Even as the percentage of income and wealth at the top of the American distribution increased, the percentage of tax expected from the most fortunate decreased.

In the 1980s, the federal government weakened the position of trade unions. … The productivity of the American workforce grew…at about 2% a year, but the wages of traditional workers increased more slowly, if at all. Over the same period, the pay of executives increased, sometimes drastically.

Amazon forest felled to build road for climate summit

"A new four-lane highway cutting through tens of thousands of acres of protected Amazon rainforest is being built for the COP30 climate summit in the Brazilian city of Belém.

It aims to ease traffic to the city, which will host more than 50,000 people - including world leaders - at the conference in November.

The state government touts the highway's "sustainable" credentials, but some locals and conservationists are outraged at the environmental impact.

The Amazon plays a vital role in absorbing carbon for the world and providing biodiversity, and many say this deforestation contradicts the very purpose of a climate summit."
