And #capitalism also requires #homeless people as the ultimate non-carcerial punishment of not choosing to be exploited.

Homeless people are the threat made by the elites to everyone that if you do not comply with capitalism, you too are destined to suffer and die on the streets.

Crucial context on the use of homeless accommodation hundreds of miles away from council areas; indicating a clear strategy:

Secure accommodation at a distance;

Offer it to families & households needing accommodation;

When they (not unreasonably) refuse as it will wrench them out of important & supportive family & social networks (and schools for children), declare they have made themselves 'intentionally homeless' & wash your hands of them.

Democratic led city of Fremont California is slated to vote on a law that criminalizes "aiding and abetting the homeless" what the hell ever that means. The bill also criminalizes being homeless, sleeping in any type of public area like parks or sidewalks.

The Democratic Mayor Raj Salwan defended the insane law by saying "won’t target outreach workers handing out food and clothing" though the law doesn't make a difference.

In Finland, there is a Housing First approach which provides homeless people with housing and support services to help individuals rebuild their lives.

By using this approach, there has been a reduction in homelessness, plummeting from over 20,000 homeless people to less than 4,000 in just a decade.

While Housing First was invented in the USA, Finland has embraced it.

What Trump didn’t say in his inauguration speech

The simple truth is that Donald Trump gave a major speech, the first speech of his second presidency,
and ignored almost every significant issue facing the working families of this country.
How crazy is that?

Our #healthcare system is broken, is dysfunctional and is wildly expensive.
We remain the only wealthy nation not to guarantee healthcare for all.
Not one word from Trump about how he is going to address the healthcare crisis.

We pay, by far, the highest prices in the world for #prescription #drugs
– sometimes 10 times more than the people in other countries
– and one out of four Americans is unable to afford the prescriptions that their doctors prescribe.
Not one word from Donald Trump on the high cost of prescription drugs.

We have 800,000 Americans who are #homeless and millions of our people spend 50% or 60% of their limited income on housing.
We have a major #housing crisis in America
– everyone knows it.
And Trump, in his inaugural address, did not devote one word to it.

Today in America, we have more income and wealth #inequality than we have ever had.
The wealthiest three people in America now own more wealth than the bottom half of our society.
But Trump had nothing to say about the growing gap between the very rich and everybody else.
And maybe that’s because he had those three people – the three wealthiest people in America – sitting right behind him at his inauguration.
And, I should add, those three people – if you can believe it – saw their wealth increase by more than $233bn since the November elections.
No wonder they were sitting right behind Trump. They couldn’t be happier.

During his inaugural speech, Trump did not have one word to say about how we are going to address the planetary crisis of #climate ##change.
The last 10 years have been the warmest ever recorded, and extreme weather disturbances and natural disasters are taking place all over the world
– from California to India, across Europe to North Carolina. Not one word about climate change
– except, of course, to make it clear that he intends to make this horrific situation even worse with “drill, baby, drill”.
Brilliant.

Mutual Aid activists in Los Angeles this morning reported that homeless sweeps continued this week unabated despite the continuing fires.

If you're wealthy and lost your home the city is rolling out the hearts, prayers and demands you're compensated by insurance and the government for your loss.

But if you're homeless and living on a sidewalk they will come take your tent, expose you to the wild fire smoke and elements.

Government workers in masks to protect themselves from the LA fire smoke steal homeless people's possessions and throw them into a trash truck. They leave the homeless to fend for themselves without their basic survival supplies like tents and cooking gear.

Sharing my progress on an illustration for a kids’ book I’m writing, and hoping to spread awareness to the fundraiser my partner @magicalgrrrl & I started for an RV, so us and our cats can have something to call home and a way to get around… boosting is appreciated!

The book will be a child-friendly retelling of my traumatic childhood and adulthood experiences (as an autistic person…) with the cat shown being the main protagonist. I’ve had the idea for a while, but have only just recently started tweaking it and designing the pages. My hope when it’s released is to reach and uplift others who may relate, whether child or adult, and for it to be a small source of income.

My traumatized, disabled, queer family is doing our best to stay alive and secure permanent shelter. We appreciate anyone who decides to check out my music, my partner’s music, get art from me, follow my Patreon, or donate to us. The RV fundraiser and everything else can be found on my hyperfollow:

Cities Say They Store Property Taken From #Homeless Encampments. People Rarely Get Their Things Back.

Storage programs are meant to protect people’s property rights and allow them to reclaim their possessions. But they rarely accomplish either objective, according to a ProPublica investigation of cities with the largest homeless populations.

"#Trump plans to redirect "Ukrainian" cash flows to the needs of the United States. Namely, to a nationwide initiative to get the #homeless off the streets by building "tent cities" where they can be resettled."

A camp site under the trees next to St Henri metro has been shut.

There were perhaps eight unhoused people living in tents there for at least four months. Their possessions have been moved out by workers this morning.

Now several large cottonwoods have been cut down so the forest along train track is gone.
