Possibly it exists and I don't know about it, how would distributed live streaming work or could work? Live a/v or just a /

I assume each can have their own server that is federated like text/chat servers, but when audience gets wider a small personal connection will fall on its face. How can this streaming power be shared? Only if the participants rent a mirror in some commercial server like amazon?
