#Vivaldi #VivaldiBrowser #BigTech #Search #Cloud #VPN
@StartpageSearch @Qwant I love Ecosia since it plants trees with every search 🌳. Vivaldi and Ecosia Dreamteam ❤️
@StartpageSearch @Qwant Searx estas la plejbona. Ne havas plejbona serčilo ol Searx.

I use Proton Mail and VPN. It's free and weeds out the followers.
does this mean you have plans moving away from Chromium? 🙏

See, see! Every time you say anything about things not-USA but elsewhere, the discourse instantly get's hijacked to be reaaaaaaly about the USA.
Quick question: I consider switching to Vivaldi on my desktop but am unclear about the cookie setting Vivaldi offers.

I do want to be able to block cookies *manually* for *every individual* website *anytime* I visit.

In other words: I'm neither interested in default cookie blocking nordefault cookie acceptance; neither during a single (current) session nor any time.

I can't find information if that's possible, and if it is, how to set the settings accordingly

Thanks in advance! 🌞
Glad to hear that you're looking into using Vivaldi as your browser. :tony_happy:

In Settings > Privacy And Security > Website Permissions, you can edit your global settings, including Cookie settings, as well as, review and manage permissions per domain.

Hope this helps! :tony_normal:
I tried that yesterday but it doesn't really work as I wish it would.

Additionally, about 20% of the websites I visit don't work in one way or another (experience different problems) although they do work in FF or Opera despite using their strictest possible settings.

One very basic example is the Ecosia search engine. I can enter the landing page and enter queries but get no readable output.

Looking to ditch Big Tech but also not use #chromium.
I would love to use Vivaldi.
I will stay on the sinking ship #gecko.
@StartpageSearch @Qwant
Thank you for this list. I try to leave big data and since Trump, America for some time now, and it isn't easy, especially not if you have a macbook air. Vivalidi is a huge step forward, thank you for that. I will continue till I have an America-free computer with european OS.
also a good site to look for european alternatives: https://european-alternatives.eu/
@StartpageSearch @Qwant @protonprivacy, also a good Cloud storage, OpenSource from Germany, #Filen, 10 GB for free

https://filen.io
Looks nice, but I also want to see some great Asian ones 👍
@StartpageSearch @Qwant Nice to promote European alternatives! There is also @Tutanota and @hellomailo for email (which, unlike @protonprivacy, didn't decide to stop posting on Mastodon), @Mojeek for search engine (which, unlike others, is not based on Google/Bing). And you provide a browser based on Chronium, which is developed by Big Tech, instead of Firefox.
i thought about downloading your browser. I saw, that you use Google DNS and Google Safe Browsing, are these services sending any data to Google?
You can read about Google Safe Browsing from this blog post https://vivaldi.com/blog/decoding-network-activity-in-vivaldi/.

Regarding Google DNS, do you mean the "DNS to Help Resolve Navigation Errors" setting in the Privacy section or something else?
