Oregon churches want housing units on their land. This bill would help cover the initial costs

Oregon legislators are now considering House Bill 2964, which would provide loans and grants for nonprofits looking to build affordable housing on their land by covering those initial costs.

My current congregation (downtown Seattle) did something like this... sold their parking lot to become a new high rise which funded remodeling the church itself and building affordable housing + women's shelter above. Some of the units remain available for refugee hosting. It's absolutely the right model for dwindling attendance mainline Protestants where the congregation owns the land/building.
