I miss #Christmas magic.

I'd say it's my #atheism that killed it, but I think #Capitalism beat me to it.

ironically, part of the magic of Christmas was all the hard work you'd have to do to get the presents and food for the big day.

Online shopping has kinda put an end to all that.

Also the idea that you should have a family get together when family doesn't really put the effort in, kind of kills the magic.

You see, magic depends on belief in the magic.
I went from feeling Meh about it to loving it. My in-laws put on a massive spread, great food, it's a day I genuinely look forward to. Didn't used to care.
having to whack out $3500 for a flight home that costs $1000-1200 in the regular season kinda puts a huge damper on the season too
That just made me think of Planes, Trains and Automobiles.

And now I want to watch it.
Yeah, I think the idea that everyone has a holiday and everything closes is part of the magic, but shops are still open on Christmas day.

I wouldn't want to force people to celebrate Christmas but if everything properly stopped for that day (or another day), it would add to the magic.

Also, it has to snow too, like a Dickens novel.
I loved it as a kid. When I had my own kids & no money it just became a huge source of stress. Nowadays I like sending my grandkids presents & that's pretty much all I do.
