Are any of the other #Fediverse platforms good?

I like the idea that different platforms federate but I think most people I see are on #Mastodon.

But when I look at the other ones, they seem confusing or unpopulated and, I suppose, Mastodon is just the Twitter stand-in so it's more talk-to-strangers oriented.
