But solidarity - amongst the left - if taken seriously surely means it's the left's duty, responsibility to remove corporate services from their lives as much as possible. Soliditary sometimes means to boycott services, and it sometimes means you might have to make things a little bit more difficult for yourself - i.e. take a less easy option.

The #Fediverse is in many ways that kind of solidarity, with people being here, hosting, developing as part of a solidarity project.
I guess the Fediverse began as a niche interest, built by enthusiasts and obsessives, but it's solidarity that make it grow.

And it's solidarity that brings us #Fedipact and other shunning of corporate BS.
My email footer now says "Please note I do not use Meta/Google/X/Spotify products.
Support an independent internet."

I guess it puts me in the paranoid/weirdo group in the minds of the receiver, that's cool. The paranoid/weirdo group is my group.
Yes. Whenever I talk about these things I know people think paranoid weirdo. But that just shows how naturally people accept corporate rule and services.

But it's not that difficult to stop using these things.Mainly people use them for ease or because everyone else is. But it's not much of a problem to stop using them.
Exactly, it's network effect and you ask people if they think these are good companies, many will say no (I would've thought most people on the left would).

Fuck it, someone has to do something. I'd be happy if I never saw a g00gle doc ever again. Send me a file or get Nextcloud or something n00bz.
But that's what I'm saying. It's a solidarity project. I think that's how it needs to be sold to the left. It's a kind of duty to boycott these things but I don't think the majority of the left know that.

Just because we're paranoid weirdos doesn't mean we're not right.
