One of the very bad people we've investigated has placed us on an obscure blacklist. So if you use Norton, you probably can't access our website. Quick thread:

It's quite hard to see what's going on.

Norton SafeWeb says the Tax Policy Associates website is fine:

MXToolBox doesn't show us on any blacklists.

The only sign of a problem is an obscure blacklist from a Ukrainian company called Gridinsoft.

Perhaps not a coincidence that this comes not long after we reported on a network of fake companies that were used to try to steal a Ukrainian gold mine. https://taxpolicy.org.uk/2025/02/08/who-is-michail-roerich-and-why-did-he-build-the-worlds-most-convincing-fake-companies/
Here's the Gridinsoft report, which doesn't show an actual problem. I've written to them requesting removal.

We work with a variety of really talented tech people. None have a solution.

(other than: Norton is trash and people should delete it. That may be true, but doesn't help us...)

I'd be interested to know what anti0virus software to use. I badly want to ditch Norton. But no point unless I have a better solution... Windows (currently).

Any #tech advice welcome.

I've done so. Let's see what happens.

@danneidle
OK - thank you. I have to say I am extremely tired of Norton. They spam me cosntantly to try to get me to upgrade.

But then MS have started doing that too, to get me to buy games or something.

When I'm emporer, there will be special torture reserved for software companies who spam their customers inside their product...
Yeah - if it's effective now? I was advised it wasn't up to the job - but that was years ago. Why not indeed?
second this. Ever since the enterprise and consumer threat definitions were combined, defender whips the llamas ass, especially when you account for performance impact.
