Yeah, the tropes are fairly similar - though I feel Germany has more variety.
I've seen stories about Charlemagne, Barbarossa, Henry the Fowler, Henry IV, Otto IV, Louis the Pious, Widukind, King Dan (the mythical founder of Denmark), and Arminius (he of the Battle of the Teutoburger Forest fame).
