Many of my Zionist & Israeli relatives think of the Israeli state as separate from settlements, which supposedly only represent a small minority of messianic extremists.

But settler violence & ethnic cleansing are only possible with the support of Israel's government, courts, the IDF & police--whether they are providing active support or turning a blind eye on the violence.

The Israeli state and the settlement project are one and the same.
