Does the Fediverse have the capacity for private groups?

Asking because I'm in some Facebook groups for therapists (resource sharing, general support, not private client info!) and many are looking to ditch Meta finally but are struggling to find alternatives.

Basically needs to be a closed community that can be moderated.
Yes, there is.
But you have to change the software to access the Fediverse and use #Friendica, #Huzilla or #IceShrimp. These are other services in the same network.
Mastodon can't do that.
@crossgolf_rebel - kostenlose Kwalitätsposts @Dr. Amy, Psy.D. Mastodon users (among others) can at least participate in these #Friendica-groups. But only Friendica users can create and moderate the group.

Here is a directory of Friendica groups. Some are completely public, e.g. this support forum, others are restricted, i.e. the moderators allow access (or not) and can also remove accounts from the group.

Friendica has been supporting groups since 2010. You can choose between public and private groups. In this case, private means that you decide which users can join the group and make posts.

In addition, a real thread is provided, which makes it easier to follow discussions. Calendar, galleries, event planning, ets... are mandatory

Of course, all of this takes place in the Fediverse. Users of Mastodon, etc. can also use these groups
