Sometimes older Chinese immigrants just want to talk to someone their kid’s age, in a language they share.

Most of them have children who don’t speak their language (only English) and are incredibly lonely in a way.

I remember with affection spending a week or more each summer at my Finish & Swedish grandparents house in Michigan's Upper Penisula. Grandma and my mother spoke Swedish the entire time we were there.
