Myths that people seem to weirdly keep bringing up about companion/pet #birds and especially #parrots, because why not:
1) That birds are in any way interchangeable with each other.
There's this perception that you can just walk out and "adopt an animal!" People will attempt to use the same logic that they use on cats and dogs (where I may disagree with the argument but it at least applies) to birds.
But birds are not like that at _all_. It fails on just about every level with birds.

Hah.
Hahahahahaha.
Good luck with that.
That's like saying "I found a cheetah for adoption! You should get that instead of a housecat."
Different order of magnitude difficulty, space and skill requirements, and costs.
Also: adoption is _challenge mode_ in a way that it just isn't with cats or dogs. Almost every adopted bird has trauma and you _have_ to know how to handle that.

A kerry blue terrier is still a dog. This is more like… going to get a dog and ending up with a jackal in terms of genetic distance. They just aren't all that closely related even to other animals we call "macaws."
They also have a beak that can crush brazil nuts, weigh 2.5-3.5 lbs (they are huge by parrot standards), and a very, very _different_ birdinality.
Not necessarily even harder, but _very_ different.
