It’s important you understand this.

The people in this photo were residents of the USA that were denied due process. They were rounded up and shipped to a prison in El Salvador—without trial, without evidence—simply on suspicion of gang affiliation.

This was done in defiance of our American courts that deemed the action illegal.

They could be legal residents. They could be innocent bystanders. They could be asylum seekers. For all we know, they could be U.S. citizens.

Image Description: Prison, cold florescent lights. Floor is polished concrete, barred cells on the perimeter. Men in black plastic helmets like darth vader, black armor and clubs.

In the center a line of men with shaved heads in white shirts and shorts (prison issue) are being forcibly "walked" stooped over since their ankles are chained to their neck (I think?) by men in black ski masks. (why the masks?) The guards hold the people by their necks. It's very disturbing.

Always with the shiny boots. Ugh.

We can make any kind of world that we want, but some people keep recreating the same nightmare over and over and over.
Close crop from the image of one of the guard's boots. They are black leather and highly polished.

Not tall enough to be jack boots.

I think this image is especially revolting because it's staged. From the clean space, to the uniforms, the masks to hide the identity of the guards being the only thing that hints at the shame. It's that transition from things that happen in US prisons every day in secret, to taking a perverse pride in it that makes this so vile.

"Look at how organized, how efficiently we strip men of their humanity."

Without realizing that their charges aren't they only ones being degraded.
Eagerly demonstrating how they can process away human dignity in bulk.

I'm not naive enough to think that the world can't exist without violence, that there isn't ever a person who might need to be treated so badly for some obscure reason. But there isn't any reason here. Just a factory whose only product is subjugation.
#Gitmo 2 for lower level state enemies

1st they came for "them" and then they came for the "others" ...

People in #ElSalvador endured decades of brutal US installed dictatorships .. and few people in the US stuggled in solidarity to them seeking "democracy".

I have hope on their humanitarian and democratic values to fight for the prisoners.
