Gaza isn't a wasteland. It has beaches, computers, universities, luxury stores, trained and well-equipped hospital staff, and everything else we have. It may be under a constant Israeli blockade and now endless bombing, but, like everywhere else, the people are resilient. Like everywhere else, people built lives and communities, and have lived in them ever since. When you walk through your city and you see bustling farmer's markets, streets lined with restaurants, friends walking back from the pub sharing jokes and laughing, and people walking their dogs, you're seeing Gaza. When you see volunteers giving free food to the less fortunate, you're seeing Gaza. When you see a little kid hugging their new rescue pet, you're seeing Gaza. White, black, latin, Asian, indigenous, or Arab, we are all the same. All of us are Gazans, all of our cities are Gaza City. Israel is destroying the life you have. They're murdering your friends, your family, your pets, and your strangers, destroying the buildings you and your friends live in, the grocery stores you go to, and your streets. And your (literal) government is helping them.
