During the first Trump admin, I’d wake up & quickly check the news to see what latest circus act had been performed. I’m not doing that this time. There’s a good chance that it will devolve into a performance by a team of bumbling clowns, but the agenda has been much more carefully & expertly developed this time.

I still check what’s happened from time to time, but… Last time it was disbelief at the idiocy of it all. This time, having studied fascism, it’s all too familiar, & horrifying, so I find myself switching off.

I still care. I do. But it’s just too much.

I still feel shock & disbelief plus the worry of it translating to here.
It is a lot though!
And strangely enough, even tho none of it is a surprise, it’s still shocking.
I’m surprised by his saying that Native Americans might not have birthright citizenship. I mean, how did he even come up with that idea? As one said, “Where’s he going to deport us to?”
We had a case here a while back. Someone had a Torres Strait Islander parent & a PNG parent. Birth not registered I think, so the LNP gov was going to send him to PNG.
Saw a program some time ago, about Sydney(?) registry office. A young First Nations woman needed birth certificate to get paid, as she began paid work. I hadn’t realised how many people didn’t have their births registered. Typical LNP 😡
