The Verge has taken an editorial stance opposing a narrowly written proposed US law to ban the posting and hosting of nonconsensual intimate/nude images.

Why? because their editorial staff has concluded that no law Congress can pass has any meaning left in its words in the current US political situation.
Instead they believe it will be used not as a law but rather as a weapon by Trump to harass his enemies while his friends skate. Musk's Twitter is infamous for nonconsensual porn for instance. Zero risk to him.
I agree with the Verge's judgement on this.
