It is probably well overdue, especially given recent events, but I’ve finally cleared out my account on #x / #twitter. I’ve left my account active in case things over there should improve (stranger things have happened), but I’ve deleted all my tweets, retweets, likes, etc. & unfollowed everyone — I have to recommend @cyd (created by @micahflee) at this point, which made the process very easy & allowed me to create a HMTL version of my #X archive.
If I'm not mistaken, the main reason to keep one account on Twitter is not "in case things get better" but to avoid someone squatting the same account if you delete it, and trying to impersonate you.

@cyd Note that (unless this has changed) an unused account may fill with "promoted tweets" shilling things you oppose. You could make a full time job of blockkng the accounts that pay for advertisinf.

@cyd the promoted tweets aren't in the unused account's timline, but rather injected into each user's feeds. It doesn't matter who YOU block, the person who is viewing your account needs to block them to hide the ads from them
