Good news 🌞 I'm very happy to share with you a glimpse of the cover of my next album, which will see the light of day in autumn 2025 (if mankind still exists by then).

It will be called ‘Strategies Against Algorithms’ and people *won't* get it by visiting my Patreon, visiting my Bandcamp, please please please clicking this or that link, streaming it on Spotify, etc.

It will only be available in exchange for something self-made and creative.

More news as it develops :)

Cover image of Schall und Stille's forthcoming album "Strategies Against Algorithms", showing a detail of Caspar David Friedrich's "Monk By The Sea" with a PDF417 barcode in the upper right corner.

did you ask Friedrich?
Yes, Caspar David (or ‘CeeDee’ to his friends) and I sat down with a good bottle of red wine and went through the whole thing.
He really likes the ideas and the demos, and thanks to "#AI" he's no longer making money from his art anyway, so he's fine with me using the artwork.

(We had to fight over the barcode a little bit, but after 3/4 of the bottle he finally gave in)

ok dann gehts also durch. CeeDee das alte Haus
ooh, I like the concept of sharing.

and whats with the PDF417?
the PDF actually reads "Schall Und Stille – Strategies Against Algorithms".
I think it's nicely (but not overly) ironic when people are going to need algorithms to read that title, and it provides a nice contrast to the existential painting I am using for the cover; kind of symbolic what is going on in the world…
That's a nice idea. Back to the original thought of "social" (in social media): do something together, interact with each other.
yep that's exactly what I thought… and bring back the adventure 😊 I'm really, really looking forward to this experiment.
I love this idea.
I'm really glad you like the idea :) I'm extremely curious to see what will emerge…
My only question is, would you expect equally strict limitations on the creative works you accept? If I gave you some music that someone else could also just buy, or listen to for free, would that cheapen the exchange? It could always be personalized in some way (signed score, personal letter, comes with a box of homemade cookies, whatever) but if the music itself were still available through normal channels, is that okay?
That would be perfectly fine. If it's personalized that's even better, but what counts is that it's something that has grown out of your creativity. If that's a score you have written that is already available in print, or a recording, etc. no problem at all. :)
Thanks, good to know.
(A lot of pressure to mankind, but it can make it.)
Very happy here too, to read this!
(🤭 I think I already know my creative coin! I hope I can have it ready by autumm)
ooh, that motivates me even more :)

(that said, I still hope we can collaborate on that album ;-))
The exchange idea sounds very cool.
Thank you :) I'm really looking forward to it… I have no idea whether my listeners will adopt it. But even if only three or four people do, I think it will be an interesting experience for everyone involved...
This is an interesting concept, @stephan
what a lovely idea
