I keep hearing Right commentators trying to downplay some of Trump's rhetoric by saying we should ignore what he said during the campaign & see how he actually governs....

Well, I think that's an interesting point & certainly I'm waiting to see how it all plays out... but equally for those who are diminishing the risks of a Trump term by implying he'll be more moderate in power.... this is a position that will likely collapse on contact with January's reality.

But, time will tell.....

I might be misremembering, but I'm pretty sure people said that last time and it turned out much worse, particularly in the first weeks of the presidency. Remember all the protests at the airports because of the "muslim ban"?
This is exactly what people were saying in 2016: “Relax, he’ll pivot to being a statesman”, they said. They were wrong. Trump turned out to be exactly what he’d shown himself to be on the campaign trail. But it’s not now Trump we need to worry about. He’ll be invalided out with dementia some time after the inauguration. President Vance will then step up to competently implement Project 2025 for Peter Thiel and the other billionaires.
@Tooden I wonder if the next assassination attempt will be mysteriously successful. 🤔
I wouldn’t trust Vance to organise a fun run, let alone an armed coup.
I think we have pretty good idea what he gonna do. He is never interested in the day-to-day governing. He will play more golf and hold more rallies, and let Vance and the team behind Project 2025 take care of the execution.
