The trajectory of E2E-encryption is about de-platforming: There shall be no central machines that can control the edges/peers, and the social groups and virtual centers they freely form.

Our #deltachat R&D around #chatmail relays and #webxdc apps all aim to realize such a "zero-platforms" fully E2E-encrypted interaction model. However, this is *not* just about cryptographic cleverness. Rather it is about usable anti-authoritarian designs, as explicitly stated in January https://delta.chat/en/2025-01-23-webxdc-no-billionaires

And all the double-ratcheting in the world won’t help you if the central server is blocked
I really wish Delta Chat had built in voice all feature atleast.

Signal stopped working in the middle east even with a VPN and while texting works on Delta Chat even without it for the most part, the voice calling feature is equally as important if you ask me.

Please let me know if there's a way to do this or please consider developing this in the app.
agreed. We are aware of the importance of voice calls and there are various background efforts around designing and realizing them. If there are developer experienced folks out there who want to help, DM us. Or someone with a bunch of money. We have experts in our community which we can't contract because of a lack of money, and so they rather work in corporate environments for the time being.
Thanks for letting me know.

Unlike what others in the thread are suggesting, a built in option for voice call that's just as decentralized as Delta Chat is what's preferred. It then makes it easiest to recommend the app to anyone.

With Jitsi in it makes it difficult with UI/UX and usability by everyday folks if I were to recommend and use this with others.
Do the Jitsi Meet servers that you can add in the Video call settings not work either?
it's not quite the same, usability and reliability wise, as "native" calls that people are used to with signal and WhatsApp
Indeed. If I could call like we do on Signal with Delta chat, that's perfect. I don't see what any other app would have over Delta Chat then (specific unique features or functionality notwithstanding).
Yeah, I know... the audio/video call requests should activate a special incoming call interface and better Jitsi integration. It takes too many clicks right now, but I imagine if you stand up your own server in whatever country, it will work. There's a switch you can send to the Jitsi server to bypass having to enter a name to start the call too.
