The video shows the sun as observed
Ultraviolet Imager instrument as Solar Orbiter moves closer to & further away from the Sun on its elliptical orbit. The blue circles are flares detected by the STIX instrument.

Info+ : https://www.esa.int/Enabling_Support/Operations/Solar_Orbiter_ready_for_close_encounter_with_Venus

... and how could we miss

Solar Orbiter's 5th birthday on February 10!

ESA’s Solar Orbiter mission lifted off on an Atlas V 411 from Cape Canaveral, Florida, at 05:03 CET on 10 February on its mission to study the Sun from new perspectives. https://www.esa.int/Science_Exploration/Space_Science/Solar_Orbiter/Liftoff_for_Solar_Orbiter_ESA_s_mission_to_face_the_Sun_up_close

See the many exciting things it has accomplished since: https://www.esa.int/Science_Exploration/Space_Science/Solar_Orbiter

And in ESA's new blog post, meet the women behind the mission https://www.esa.int/ESA_Multimedia/Images/2025/02/Celebrating_Solar_Orbiter_and_the_women_behind_the_mission

Can you spot all the #MPSGöttingen scientists, engineers and #IMPRS doctoral researchers and alumni in the mosaic image?
