The only reason it was okay for a Palestinian to get up on that stage and say what he said was because it satisfied that deep liberal desire for coexistence between the occupier and the occupied. So, they can finally shut up this indigenous liberation struggle, while still pretending that they really support it.

Normalization is accepting Israel's right to exist as a colonizer and supporting the proper establishment of the Palestinian state in exchange for all Palestinians. The fact that this documentary is labeled as a Palestinian-Israeli production is a clear indicator that it is in favor of normalization.
They put the colonizer and the colonized on the same level, which is the tone he was giving during the speech. That Palestinians and Israelis are in this together; we have to fight together. You can't normalize.
The other clear indicator was when he openly condemned the actions of the resistance. He called the actions of October 7 criminal. Liberation will not come from the colonizer or those on another continent; it will come from the colonized and their willingness to fight and die for the rights to their land.

The “both sides of the issue” approach is literally at the root of the issue. This subtle approach of trying to equate the Palestinians and the Zionist occupation as equals in these kinds of issues or conflicts in the Middle East, while completely ignoring the root cause, which is Zionist settler colonialism, is so dangerous.
