How good could a dive be where I have a total drysuit flood? Very very good is the answer! We had an awesome encounter with a common octopus in Rhode Island! I took a million pictures, but here's one to get you started 😀 🐙

Subject: Common octopus. The octopus rests on the edge of a rock with arms outstretched looking at the camera. The skin is a mottled orange with light tan around the eyes and a slightly bumpy texture.

I found this nudibranch (Aeolidia papillosa) on a dive at the UNH Research Pier in New Castle, New Hampshire. They prey on various Cnidaria species like pink hydroids and frilled nudibranches. They are tricky to photograph as they blend into their surroundings, but the snoot really helped to separate this one from its surroundings.

Subject: Shag Rug Nudibranch (Aeolidia Papillosa). A mottled tan and brown nudibranch facing the camera with mouth tendrils out to the side and rhinophores sticking straight up. The numerous protrusions on the back are sticking out in all directions. The nudibranch is moving through some silty seaweed with a darkened background.
