"I'm one year away from retirement age, which is 65. I worry that he will reduce SS benefits before I reach retirement age, putting me in a predicament of having to continue to work until 67 or even 70."

"Tank the economy because he's too arrogant, or drag us into a war because he can't keep his mouth shut."

"He's already lost my support for attacking fed WKRs who're veterans."

Will buyer's remorse lead to a mvt that eventually calls for Trump's ouster?

Your SSI should be fine if you have one year remaining. You'll be "grandfathered" into your bracket at the time of your retirement, locking your benefits no matter what Congress decides.

It's the people looking at retirement in 10-20 years that will, unfortunately, be working longer for your current levels of retirement.
Understood.

I thought full collection was at 65. Perhaps years ago lol.

Still,you have to consider how much more you'll sacrifice by waiting until 67.

Why not enjoy those two years rather than hold out for a few thousand over X amount of time above the roots?

@KimPerales
Huh?

I don’t need to check my SSI info as I’m a Veteran.

@KimPerales
I agree. Around 2035 SS benefits will take a 20% haircut if nothing is done to stop it. So at this point in time, apply for SS ASAP. I waited until 68 but that was then, this is now. Things change.
