Reason #1 why #FordMustGo

If you looked back on media headlines during Ford's term as premier I suspect it would be staggering in terms of documenting his incompetence, lack of compassion, dumb statements, moronic decisions and serving private industry interests. Thankfully, there's a list.... and it's staggering...

Reason #2 why #FordMustGo

Ford has missed every target set for housing while he has been premier. Their target of 1.5M homes by 2031 was considered low as it would not keep pace with population growth, and most industry experts expect them to miss by 50% or more. In 2023, they got innovative and started counting long-term care beds. In 2024, they considered switching to tallying permits versus actual building starts.

Ford wants to reduce gridlock so his SUV can get to the Legislature quickly but fails to realize that means you have to eliminate cars, not make more room for them. We should be encouraging alternative transport options like walkable cities, bike lanes, ebikes, and subsidized excellent public transit. Instead, we get a moronic policy response that targets bike lanes.

Doug Ford: We're ripping out bikes lanes.
Ontarians: People will get hurt or killed.
Doug Ford: Emoji of shrugging shoulders.

Ford government to ban lawsuits if cyclists are hurt or killed on streets where bike lanes are removed.

Reason #4 why #FordMustGo

There's 1 inescapable truth in politics - the Conservatives complain the most about out of control government spending AND are simultaneously the worst at managing it. Remember Ford's "Gravy Train" catchphrase. Ford's government office is the largest and most costly in Ontario's history, increasing by over 130% in just 5 years. A combination of cronyism and ineptitude.

When Ford says, "For the people," he has a different demographic in mind. Land developers who were offered prime chunks of the greenbelt, drug retailers inching their way into our Healthcare, mega spas gaining a 99 year lease on public waterfront parkland, grocery chains selling beer, and beer and wine manufacturers no longer under control of the LCBO. Remember, corporations are people too...

A political cartoon showing Doug Ford on a balcony waving and grinning. Above his head is a banner that says "For The People". In the background stand 3 characters that are obviously corporate land developers, one of which has a caption above his head that reads, "The slogan always chokes me up". In the bottom right corner there is an RCMP officer looking through a magnifying glass.

Daily Reminder: Do what you can to stop another Ford majority government:
- Make sure you vote, either by mail or in person.
- Don't vote for any Conservative candidates.
- Post and boost any article criticizing Ford's management of Ontario (virtually unlimited material). Most voter's have short-term memories - don't let them forget about his poor decisions, moronic policies, and outright corruption. Highlight all of it, everyday, to demonstrate why he's unfit for office.

Reason #6 why #FordMustGo

Since 2018, Ford has provided us with a chaotic government that is more likely to announce or implement something, only to reverse course within a few weeks or even hours. His policies aren't fully developed or researched before being released which results in rethinking or tinkering, or outright cancelation. It's almost as if he makes decisions with his gut, and ignores facts.

Ford's test of leadership arrived Jan 22nd, 2022, when the Freedom Convoy occupied Ottawa. Initially, he was MIA because he was snowmobiling at his cottage. As the crisis continued, Ford and Sylvia Jones, solicitor general at the time, did not participate in the daily emergency calls with Ottawa officials. Ford and Jones also declined to provide testimony under oath at the inquiry.

One of the qualities we should look for in a government leader is empathy. You can't make critical decisions on how to make lives better without understanding needs and desires. This is particularly true for those who are most vulnerable. Ford exhibits zero empathy, and his comments about a group home for autistic youth demonstrates that. He was more concerned about the impact on property values.

In preparation for a winter election, and proving it was planned months in advance, Ford uses $3B of our taxpayer dollars to hopefully buy a few votes. This money not spent on healthcare, education, autistic children, housing, repairs for the Ontario Science Centre, homelessness, or countless other programs or policies that could make a real difference in the lives of Ontarians.

Behind him, there are spooky looking fences with 4 signs reading from left to right: Healthcare, Housing, Homelessness, and Infrastructure.
The caption above Doug Ford's head reads, " A little sugar makes all the horrors go away".
Reason #10 why #FordMustGo

The quality of life in Ontario has been eroded since Ford continually cuts funding for social support programs. Homelessness has been increasing, and homeless encampments are common in every city in the province. Ford has committed to a tiny amount of funding that will come too late for this winter and take years to take effect. Once again, the most vulnerable are left behind.

Ontario underspending on social services by $3.7B.

"It's shocking. He either doesn't understand the depth of the crisis or doesn't care." - MPP Monique Taylor, NDP critic for Children, Community and Social Services.

"Doug Ford government's utter failure to adequately fund social services across the province is a total disgrace." - Ontario Greens Leader Mike Schreiner

Ford can't understand that it's unethical to sell $150 tickets to lobbyists and developers for his daughter's Stag & Doe. He's confused why it's inappropriate for Tony Miele, Chair of the PC Ontario Fund, the fundraising arm of the Ontario PC Party, to be selling tickets. He doesn't understand boundaries or why he can't take personal advantage of his office.

Many political watchers were surprised about how Singa Surma could appear out of nowhere to become Minister of Infrastructure. In less than a decade, she went from an assistant to a Toronto city councilor to overseeing the province's infrastructure and being in charge of the renovation of Ontario Place. It's the traditional story of who you know and not letting "unqualified" affect your career path.

One of Ford's earliest campaign promises was to "end hallway medicine". Despite numerous announcements of funding for hospitals and adding beds, the issue of overcrowded medical clinics and closed emergency wards has remained. Perhaps his war on public service employees, limiting salary increases for professionals on the COVID frontline, demonstrated just how much respect he has for healthcare workers.

Ford looks after developers, lobbyists, and corporations, but the people who need real support are left on waiting lists crying for assistance. In 2019, Ford's government scrapped the Liberal support program for autistic children in favour of their new strategy. It took almost 3 years to be fully implemented, and the number of families needing help has tripled, and wait times are longer than ever.
