Tried out a new (to us) dog park today.

Sis came out for my cancer surgery late 2023 and brought her dog Krypto. My running friend gave me a little stuffed bear while I was in the hospital recovering and when I got home Krypto adopted it. This was the scene when they packed up to drive back home. I still see the bear in photos she sends, it is his comfort bear.

Morning run

We have had a glorious few days in the Borders and today has started off just as well. 12.5k road and tracks, followed by a swim (for the dug) - it’s ether that or the hose before my partner will let him back into the cottage, and he prefers the swim.

Blick durch einen Felsdurchgang knapp oberhalb der Wasserlinie. Ein Malinois mit grauem Geschirr steht im Durchgang und blickt auf das Meer. Der Küstenabschnitt ist von Steinen unterschiedlichster Größe bedeckt, dazwischen grober Sand. In ca 50m Entfernung sieht man schon wieder felsige, piniengekrönte Steilküste. Wo sich der Weg fort setzt ist kaum zu erahnen.
Ein steiniger Weg führt vom Betrachter weg die Steilküste entlang hinab zum rechten Bildrand. Ein Mensch mit auffallend oranger Jacke steht an der linken Wegseite und blickt auf das Meer hinaus. Am rechten Wegrand kommt ein Hund auf den Betrachter zu gelaufen. Das Meer bricht aufgewühlt über mehrere Felsen hinweg. Aufgelockert wird das Bild durch eine Gruppe Pinien, die am linken Rand des Weges etwas unterhalb der Person stehen. Der Himmel ist einheitlich grau und scheint am nahen Horizont fast auf dem Wasser zu liegen.

Im Vordergrund eine kleine Pinie, verdreht und gebeugt höchstens 1,5m hoch. Über alles trist-grauer Einheitshimmel der dem ganzen Bild eine düstere Stimmung gibt aus dem das Türkis des Meeres hervor sticht.

Jedes Mal, wenn ich bei der Arbeit in der Event-Kommunikation stecke, bekomme ich wieder selber Lust zu starten. Dann schweife ich ab und durchstöbere meine privaten Fotos von den Hunde-Events. Prokrastinieren kann ich. :D Ich bin noch unsicher, ob ich Gesicht zeigen möchte hier im Fediverse. Daher mache ich mich jetzt erstmal weiter unkenntlich, auch wenn's creepy aussieht und manchmal sehr schade um den Gesichtsausdruck ist. Gesichtsfasching kann nämlich nicht nur Ylvi.

Every time I'm involved in event communication at work, I get the urge to get to the starting line again myself. Then I drift off and browse through my private photos of the dog events. I can do procrastination. :D I'm still unsure whether I want to show my face here in Fediverse. That's why I'm continuing to make myself unrecognisable for now, even if it looks creepy and sometimes it's a shame because of the facial expressions. It's not just Ylvi who can do funny faces.

Went to Aberporth in Ceredigion (Wales) (UK), had planted native shrubs with primary school so making metal labels so that the kids will see their names attached to the shrubs for years to come. Today is flying by.
We are getting things done.
Linens are all washed and rooms aired out while the sunshine holds.
Lunch was served.
I told Summer that if we hurried through our chores we could plant some dahlias.
So we got our move on.
We unloaded the bags of soil before I sent Summer to fetch the new dahlia tubers.
Right when we were ready to dig into the dirt, here came the rain, to chase us back inside. Poor Summer had to drag her dahlia tubers, back to the garage, so we can try again another day. The disappointment was real.
Summer is my all time favorite gardening buddy.

Summer and I are feeling quiet today.
Yesterday, was a lot, with the contractor's crew working long after dark to secure the house before the storm arrived. By the time they cleared out we were all exhausted. I wasn't expecting to be working construction, but when the job doubled in size, it was all hands on deck.
I took the morning off to rest but Summer needed to get out and run.
I figured I could handle a quick walk at the beach.
The fresh but crisp air was good for both of us.

Folks seemed to enjoy the #puppy pics a few days ago. So here's another: a main character in my upcoming book at 6wks. Not the most profound post of the day, but, IMO, way better to look at than certain other faces. 🐶

For extra fun, this pic is 24 years old. Pup was the 5x- and 6x-great grandfather of the dogs in my profile pic. Brilliant soul who made a profound impact in the service dog and guide dog communities.

Vorstellungsrunde! #neuhier ist mit mir auch Bounty, meine 14 Jahre alte Mischlingshündin. Sie war mein erster Hund und hat mich Geduld gelehrt. Das macht sie jetzt, wo sie in die Jahre gekommen ist, wieder. Wie langsam kann man spazieren gehen? Wie lange kann man an einer Stelle riechen? Bounty sagt: Ja! :D Aber ich bin dankbar, dass sie noch da ist. Vor wenigen Wochen wurde ihr die Milz entfernt. Es war ein riesiges Hämatom, fast so groß wie ein Fußball und 3 kg schwer. Das hätte jederzeit platzen können. Zum Glück haben wir es rechtzeitig bemerkt. Und so genießen wir jetzt die Zeit, die wir noch haben. Und machen die 15 dieses Jahr voll.

Introduction round! Bounty, my 14 year old mixed breed dog, is also #newhere with me. She was my first dog and taught me patience. Now that she's getting on in years, she's doing it again. How slow can you go for a walk? How long can you smell one spot? Bounty says: Yes! :D But I'm grateful that she's still here. She had her spleen removed a few weeks ago. It was a huge hematoma, almost as big as a soccer ball and weighing 3 kg. It could have burst at any time. Fortunately, we noticed it in time. So now we're enjoying the time we have left. And make it to 15 this year.
