Evening run before we are back up in Edinburgh for a long day, oh joy

8.5k, all road, dry and quiet. But coming back along the Teviot, dumbo de dug decided that he would bring a souvenir. I frequently pause here and throw a stick a few times to wind him down, but this? At least he brought it back another k and it is on the 'to be chopped' for the stove pile....

Morning run

We have had a glorious few days in the Borders and today has started off just as well. 12.5k road and tracks, followed by a swim (for the dug) - it’s ether that or the hose before my partner will let him back into the cottage, and he prefers the swim.

Jedes Mal, wenn ich bei der Arbeit in der Event-Kommunikation stecke, bekomme ich wieder selber Lust zu starten. Dann schweife ich ab und durchstöbere meine privaten Fotos von den Hunde-Events. Prokrastinieren kann ich. :D Ich bin noch unsicher, ob ich Gesicht zeigen möchte hier im Fediverse. Daher mache ich mich jetzt erstmal weiter unkenntlich, auch wenn's creepy aussieht und manchmal sehr schade um den Gesichtsausdruck ist. Gesichtsfasching kann nämlich nicht nur Ylvi.

Every time I'm involved in event communication at work, I get the urge to get to the starting line again myself. Then I drift off and browse through my private photos of the dog events. I can do procrastination. :D I'm still unsure whether I want to show my face here in Fediverse. That's why I'm continuing to make myself unrecognisable for now, even if it looks creepy and sometimes it's a shame because of the facial expressions. It's not just Ylvi who can do funny faces.

Morning run

A combination of road and forest tracks to get up to Fatlips Castle and back. Total 18.5k, very comfortable temperatures and blue skies with a roving flock of sheep overhead.

Lots of debris down on the paths with the odd tree blocking the trail.

After a rough couple of days, it was nice to get out for an evening run in The Borders - and it was warm 🥵 12.5k, road, with a lovely sunset and lit by a full moon. Photos a little distorted by a very small phone.

Morning run/walk

An old favourite. Ruberslaw from Hassendean. We ran there and up, but an icy path [ersuaded me to take it rather more carefully until back onto the road . Chilly, I was not warm for 4k and my feet another 4 after that. The dug was delighted.

16.5k, 9k road, 7.5 trails (the return bit of that was walked).

The Cumbrian fell runner

I loved this short podcast about Joss Naylor, a Cumbrian Shepherd who holds the British record for the 3 peaks run, along with many other records. He died in 2024 at the age of 88. Give it a listen.

Nike needs to get back its obsession with sport, says new boss

I would not normally post this (archived ) article but it is running related. Despite the headline what he really means is profitability. Nike have not been very interested in running for a long time. I seem to remember wearing a decent pair of shoes years ago, but more robust, environmentally and ethically acceptable shoes are available.

😊 I'm doing an all-day 12k Santa fancy dress pub crawl charity run tomorrow, so thought I should at least start with a clear head. I don't really mind not drinking on a Friday anyway, weirdly, and don't like running if I've even had one the night before. Although I am not #running #ParkRun tomorrow as I'm doing my first ever volunteering! Hooray! Quite pleased with myself about that. Bit outside my comfort zone.

Every step was worth it for this incredible view from the Mannen! Trail running under the midnight sun in the Lofoten Islands is truly one of the most beautiful experiences you could ever imagine. The sea, the mountains, the beaches, the countless hiking trails and the endless horizon – it's all so breathtaking!

Morning Run

The light at this time of the year can be so lovely in Northern Britain. We spent the night in Cumbria and got out above Shap on the old 'concrete road', returning alongside the A6 (not as bad as you might think). 15k, cold with some ice but a fast surface.

Ju7st the hound and self, along with a small terrier we picked up en route (and took back). Partner a little under the weather, Mum asleep and my sister - well it was early!

Morning run

As a birthday treat we have spent a couple of nights in #Gullane, very pretty if sterile. The beaches are fantastic though, although they suffer from a perennial Scottish problem of crowds at this time of the year.

8k along the beach and cost and then back via the John Muir Trail. Believe it or not, heavy rain forecast for the late afternoon.

The dug doubled up on that with his flying ring.

Evening run

Back in the Bprders for the night and we got out in and around Minto. A lovely sky (straight photo bar whatever an iPhone does to the image). 12.5k, road, quiet, wet surfaces but no ice and warm. Compares well to -2.5C yesterday 40k up the road!

A clear night, cold but not icy. Road run on very quiet lanes, 13k, 1 car over the whole outing. Pressure is on, my partner is away and the dug is bored.

Great moon though, almost full. Seen here looking towards the Waterloo Monument.
