So, I posted the photo where I'm holding up a #FreeMahmoudKhalil sign on #BlueSky... 2 reposts! And they were both my friends irl. So yeah. Tell me that Blue Sky isn't mucking about with the algorithms? They most certainly are! But I'll stay on it just to keep up with #MaineProtests. Anyhow, now we know. Proving that the #Fediverse is the place to be!
You raise an interesting point that with platforms that throttle engagement via algorithm the users do not necessarily even know when they are being shadow banned or other subjects amplified.

Have no idea why people put so much unearned trust into #Bluesky when they are demonstrably lying about this whole decentralized nonsense. Suppose it is Jay Grabber's personality and charm, but seriously wake up folks! We don't have the luxury of screwing this up again.

Two years ago a real opportunely was lost. As Twitter started to stall and spin under Elon Musk, users fled in droves. Many activists came to Mastodon. Now lots of those Mastodon accounts lie fallow as Instagram (even worse then Bluesky) seemed to be the chosen migration point of so many.

That's true. Mastodon did not have a sufficient mood at that time. Unfortunately, without any marketing per se, impressions formed then seem to have stuck.
