Almost forgot, I met this wonderful gnarly oak tree yesterday. Amazingly it had survived the storms - looks like it has survived a few!

Photo of an old and twisted oak tree on high moorland, the hills around brown with dead bracken. The branches are bare apart from a few brown and curled leaves that hang stubbornly on knobbly twigs. The stout, gnarly trunk is thickly upholstered in green moss. Ferns sprout from the sides. It looks very human-like. It made me happy to see it surviving on the wily windy moor. Many trees around felled by winter storms. The ruins of a stone building lie behind, mossy stones being enveloped by bracken.
