I am getting in the mood to go through my seeds and see where I have gaps to fill.

I may even make.....a spreadsheet!

Last night I was playing around with the Old Farmers Almanac Garden Planner and trying to figure out how to get my goose and my grain and my fox across the river.

I have limited space, and a lot of that space is paved. So I use containers. I want to put Tomatoes, Carrots, Radishes, Broccoli, Cabbage, and maybe a couple of other things out there. I ALSO want to try planting companion plants to protect the main plants. So I need to figure out how to add containers of Borage, Nasturtium, Marigold, and maybe a couple of herbs (Basil?).

I need to figure out how to arrange it all so that they help each other but still allow the human access for watering/fertilizing/tending/harvesting.

I had been squishing the Tomatoes up against the side of the shed, but I think I'll do more of an "aisle" layout this year.

And I have a new raised planter that I get to assemble and figure out where it will best fit (I think between the driveway and the fence, but I'm not great at accurately estimating space, so we shall see).

I just remembered I may be able to hang some plants in baskets as well. That might be a good solution for some of this.

I always seem to get revved up in January and lose my steam in March. I need to figure out how to keep this energy strong all the way through April so I can achieve my 2025 resolution of using all of my outdoor planters this year.

I'm gonna need more dirt.

If you find a way of doing cabbages in a small space, I'm all ears... I can't get them to form proper heads (need to water them more) and they take over the world in the process of not actually producing anything. Having sait that: my Purple Broccoli is now producing and it similarly is bulky. But worth it 😀

In The Little Veggie Patch Co'.s An A-Z Guide to Growing Food in Small Spaces, they recommend the Red Drumhead cabbage.
Oooh. That really could be my issue. I'm in #Jersey, have an enclosed garden - and it gets warm for sure. Maybe I need to try to grow them slightly off seasson? Plant them in November say?

We just harvest cabbage like kale. Pluck leaves from the sides and it grows up away from the ground. Not great storage but cabbage for a long time.
