I used to knock about quite a bit in the 13e when I studied in Paris. I almost moved to Butte Aux Cailles but I'd not long left Montmartre and couldn't be arsed with having to walk up massive hills 😂

they are my two favourite neighbourhoods. you're so lucky to have even had the opportunity to live in BAC. when was it? gah, i'm a wee bit envious. i admit it.

Oh, this was long, long ago, and believe me when I say walking to the university and back from Montmartre soon takes the shine off! This was Oct 93-June 94.
Wound up in Place des Vosges in the end, thanks to some cheeky negotiations with a mate's parents (no rent!)
I kinda hate Paris these days, although I've not been for a loooong time now. I like the look of the pedestrianisation.

i still have feelings for montmartre, belleville & la villette. you probably have some stories.
maybe i'd be as blase as you are about paris if i'd managed to live there for a bit. as it stands, i've not been since 2019 & it's killing me. it's changed so much since then. bicycles are everywhere!

Dumb luck mate, that's all. I didn't really appreciate it at the time! I've not got that many stories tbh - too much studying, like the massive nerd that I am 😂
It's not that I'm blasé about Paris, there's just a million other better places to live in France. I prefer the Midi and the Atlantic coast. I do miss a nice demi-pêche apero though.
