I was just imagining in a near dream state 'bed tents', a fabric cover held up by poles curved over the bed so you are more private and less perceived in bed.

What about those pop-up domes for the beach?
Dome shelter for beach. Fits 4.
I'm thinking more of something the shape of a nissen hut (in fabric) that would be the size and shape of a bed.
World War II Nissan huts about 20 metres long and 5 meters wide which are a cylinder cut in half long ways made out of corrugated iron on the ground, seen from the air.
Yeah, similar concept, but more like a small tent over the top of your bed.

@melivia @actuallyautistic They exist. My youngest had one on his bed for years, to help him avoid sensory overwhelm.

When he was younger he really liked locking himself in a closet, or getting in a laundry basket and putting a blanket over himself.

The tent achieved a similar experience for him. Just one of his ways over dealing with too much sensory input in the world.

He got tired of it though. It seems he has found other ways to cope now.

I just saw this at IKEA recently. I kinda wanted one too
@ideogram @melivia @actuallyautistic That one looks like a nice design.

The one my son had was bigger and rectangular, and covered the whole bed.

The downside was that it was really frustrating to open and close the zippers, so he ended up not actually closing it as often as he wanted to.

Good idea, but frustrating in practice. The Ikea one seems like it may be easier.
@actuallyautistic I remember eyeing the snuggy one but just thinking about changing the bedding was too much for me.
A pic of the snuggy blackout black tent for a single bed.
