After more than 80 years, the remains of a World War II airman whose plane was shot down over Germany has been identified. Army Air Force Tech. Sgt. Sanford G. Roy, of Chattanooga, Tennessee, was assigned to a Bombardment Squadron in spring of 1944 before his aircraft crashed with eight other crew members aboard. While members of the military saw the incident, the crash site couldn’t be located, and Roy’s name was etched on the Walls of the Missing at the Netherlands American Cemetery.
