does anyone think there's (still) a need for an open electronic music producers' instance?

(pls boost. and reply if you think you'd need one)
:boost_requested:
I wish #Funkwhale had a "social media" layer on top of the existing engine, so that, Funkwhale instance could be used to both upload music, manage podcast etc.. But also be used to communicate with others on the #fediverse

For now, one can only follow, for example @admin
there’s a social component in #Funkwhale - you can create a Channel, which can be either a podcast or an artist discography feed. You can then post announcements to it, and if you post an audio clip to the announcement, it’ll federate out.

I’ve been wanting to spin up a funkwhale instance specifically for an electronic music collective - totally willing to operate this if people are interested.
oh interesting, so it's like a broadcast, I will test this out and see how it looks on different parts of the #fediverse

Wishing I could just arbitrarily share links to music files to my channel from the existing collection.. A bit as if it was a blog with #activitypub identity

What I find odd is that newly added music files, on a channel, don't appear as posts in the @admin feed. #Funkwhale isn't really obvious to me in terms of #activitypub
@admin while #FunkWhale has been going on for a while it's growing slowly in terms of what are its goals etc. It's been a constant growth in direction of supporting artists (and podcasters), but not everything is finished. If you want to join the community of devs and documentation writers and any kind of supporters they really need helping hands in many areas. Their governance is also cooperative/democratic. @funkwhale @gcrkrause
@admin sadly not a dev, I wish I could participate in that manner, up to now I only found bugs (got my name in one of the changelog for one 1 big bug reported like 2 years ago)
So I will keep testing it :)
I'm so sorry I cannot participate more. I usually just run out of spoons, or some kind of spreading thinly accross too many projects. I love funkwhale.
I can't participate more either but I love the project and I'm trying to get chunks of the Belgian electronic music scene (dj's & producers) to move out of mixcloud/SoundCloud and join the fediverse with #Funkwhale, also working on getting "underground radio's" to adopt it to store their archives!
