“Is anyone here alive?” No matter how many times I hear this sentence, it always sends shivers down my spine. Whenever we visit a recently bombed location, the first responders ask, “Is anyone here alive?” The first responders in Gaza have very limited supplies and manpower and need to make sure they are digging to find someone alive. Sometimes we hear a faint voice we are unable to rescue, and many times we don’t hear anyone, which means everyone under the rubble is dead or bleeding to death.
