Others, when you take initiative: "You don't need what you're proposing, and should use this other method starting today, without a Fediverse Enhancement Proposal"

This, plus people talking past each-other, not introducing themselves & their backgrounds (which helps understand viewpoints) and assuming technical knowledge of everyone involved - it's really quite discouraging.
