The Scottish Isengard.

Maybe Tolkien found some inspiration here.

Photographed during my first trip to Scotland many years ago. In just two weeks, we covered over 3,000 km - crazy! That’s even more than in eight weeks in Australia. And Australia is 100 times bigger.

This black-and-white photograph, framed with a white border, shows the Glenfinnan Monument at the shore of Loch Shiel, surrounded by mountains. The monument, positioned centrally, creates a focal point amidst the rugged terrain. A body of water in the background enhances the depth of the image, while the dark foreground contrasts sharply with the lighter sky, adding to the moody and almost cinematic atmosphere. The sky is filled with clouds, and the surrounding landscape consists of rolling hills and vegetation.

One of my first unusual photos - not that long ago. Up until then, I mostly took 'normal' pictures: landscapes, buildings, family in front of landscapes, family in front of buildings, and so on. Rarely anything unusual. But this one, it can divide opinions as sharply as the lamppost divides the image. While ordinary pictures tend to elicit either positive or neutral reactions, this one feels bolder. Funny thing is, now I find it almost too conventional. But I still love it.

The image is a square color photograph with a white border, depicting a sunny beach scene. The foreground shows a sandy beach with a single person walking on it, wearing a hat, and casting a shadow. In the midground, a lamppost stands tall and centrally placed, dividing the composition. Beyond the beach, the ocean stretches out with small waves visible on its surface. A kitesurfer with an orange kite is visible on the right side of the image, gliding over the water. The sky above is bright blue with scattered clouds, adding to the clear, sunny atmosphere.
