I'm starting to think the Fake Geek Girl controversy in the early 10s was a psyop to cover the fact that these tech bros are fake geeks.
Like, when I was a kid, geeks were NOT popular. Being into LOTR in the 80s was not at all the same as being into LOTR in the 00s. We were mercilessly mocked.
So we rejected status, owned our passions, invented a place we could meet from far away, found friendship with each other, got good at tech, changed the world, and made a lot of money.
Through this, our passions gained status, and without trying, we got status. Which we true geeks didn't care about.
But people who crave power care.
I think they took on these interests but weren't genuine. They were only there for the status, which they feel we hadn't earned (because we didn't care), and resented having to put on a show.
They also feared being called out.
Enter the geek culture wars of the 2010s. Gamer Gate. Sad Puppies.
Now there's Elon paying people to level a character in a game he sucks at so he can stream it to the masses and everyone can see this emperor has no clothes.
He's not a real geek. He's a fake geek guy who joined up because it was popular and made people think he was one of us. He ruins geek references by naming every bad thing after concepts he doesn't fully grok. (See what I did there.) It's a show.
He hates real geeks as much as he hates himself.
And he's not the only one.
It was projection all along.

"His discovery was that evil men arose from evil systems, and that every man had the potential to be perverted.
Which is why some systems needed to come to an end."
