After 19 months of closure finally the section #StMichelValloire 🇫🇷 - #Modane will be reopened for TER and TGV trains from 31 March 2025. One day later also the Frecciarossa trains will be reinstated. #Paris 🇫🇷 and #Milano 🇮🇹 are again directly connected by train.

I've been doing a bit of housekeeping on my travel blog because I realised that it was almost impossible to find the trips that we've taken without trawling through a lot of posts - I would have thought it might have been possible to generate an index page but HTMLy doesn't seem to have that facility - so I've done it myself.
Equally, my pore brane can't fathom out how to force links to open in new tabs (none of the usual HTML attributes work for me - but I'm getting tired!)

I've mentioned my travel blog a few times (sorry) but I've now finally settled on a way of mirroring it in a way that works for me.

The main blog for now remains at https://mikefromlfe.mataroa.blog/ and that's what I'll try to update on our travels each day - not that we've got anything planned before May!
I've now got a prettier site where I'm copying & pasting the Mataroa blogs (for now) at https://gaylers.me/travel/ I'll try to update this each day as we travel as well but it's a bit more of a faff - particulalrly when I'm incorporating photos - although it's probable that in time this will become the more photo-heavy blog with the Mataroa one remaing mostly text.
I can't see that I'll have the energy to produce different content for the two platforms - but I'm a little bit concerned about the long-term sustainability of Mataroa - so it's belt & braces.

At 06:11 this morning began the journey back...

Theft of signal cabling near Doncaster means first train was canceled, fortunately further travel not affected 🤡

I used the 2 other days for a quick trip to Aviemore and a quick trek up Cairn Gorm - something I wouldn't have done without the ticket.
