Or when that same law stopped them from toppling governments abroad to put friendy regimes in charge, like Pinochet.

Any kind of law is probably dead in this country. Unless state and local governments draw a very hard line including defending their turf FROM Federal law enforcement (de facto secession), we have crossed over a very clear red line.

Exactly. The entire US Constitution was written exclusively for rich white men. There's only so much retconning that can be done before one realizes the whole thing should be scrapped.
