Yesterday I announced to my #instagram I was done. I'm leaving, and so in a week after I've given my followers time to reach out for my contact info I will be deleting the app.

#Mastodon and the #Fediverse have been such a breathe of fresh air when it comes to social media - thanks all of you people 👊

However, I've realized there are barriers to entry, so, I want to put together a blog for my photographer buds. A list of "best practices" 1/2 🧵

#InstagramExodus #photography #mastodontips
2/2 🧵the #Fediverse has it's own unspoken rules. I'm hoping others here can help me out together a proper list - in the context of photographers - that would be good to know whenever they do join.

So far I have:
- Adding Alt text to images
- Day of the Week photo games e.i. #TreeTuesday and #MountainMonday etc.
- #Pixelfed vs #Mastodon and how the fediverse works with account tags and servers
- Public vs Quiet Public vs Private messages.
- CamelCase and why

What else should I cover?
I guess you can find most topics here:

oh awesome! I will definitely use this as a reference for further reading at minimum.
When I joined the Fediverse as a photographer two years ago, I was also confused by the ActivityPub and the differences between platforms, apps, instances, etc.

I, too, decided to create a guide to joining the Fediverse for my followers on other platforms.

Then I discovered @FediTips and realised that someone had already covered each topic in a much more comprehensive way than I could.

Great source of information!
Aww, cheers for the mention and the kind words 🙏

I think what I'll be doing is using what you've already created to make a more condensed readers digest version that's relevant to image heavy posters - I will definitely be crediting your page though. I took a brief look at it and wish I'd found it sooner in my Mastodon journey.
Sounds good! Let me know when it's ready, I could do a shoutout for it? 🙂

And really happy to hear you found the guide useful! 😃
