Zoe Hughes, an #Exeter City council member for #Pennsylvania, has resigned from the #LabourParty over their banning of gender affirming treatment of under 18s.

Good for them, nice to see a politician with some principles.

After reading that I emailed Zoë Hughes to thank them - I think it's important to send positive messages of support when politicians do the right thing, especially on issues where they'll probably be getting a lot of nasty responses - and got this reply:

"Emails like this one have really lifted my spirits and reminded me that it's still ok to have principles in 2025 - so thank you so much for sending it.
The fact so many people have made the effort to reach out proves I did what was right for young people in this country. What the BBC failed to mention was my main point - if these puberty blockers are unsafe, they should be banned for everyone. Currently, they are still available to cis gendered children experiencing precocious puberty.
My point was that either we don’t care about the safety of cis kids OR we are specifically unfairly targeting a vulnerable and marginalised group.

Thank you again for your support - it means everything."
